Fedora Core GUI problems

I've just installed fedora core 4 on my computer. unforateantly when ever fedora (or andaconda) uses GUI instead of buttons and what not i get werid multi colored. I have a Dell 784 monitor and a NIVIDIA GeForce 6800 grahpics card. how ever at the install it loaded them as unknown monitor and NIVIDIA unknown so i think the problem's driver related but i've got no clue how to make it use the right driver. i have a windows dual boot and the XP GUI works just fine.
Thanks in advance to those who help!

Fedora 4 Installation To install the nvidia-drivers with Yum
Fedora Core 4 (Stentz)

For Core 4 the stable/unstable/testing branches have been replaced by a single lvn branch

Browse repositories.
Yum

To start using the rpm.livna.org repository in yum simply install the livna-release rpm package:

rpm -ivh http://rpm.livna.org/fedora/4/i386/R...2.4.noarch.rpm

rpm --import http://rpm.livna.org/RPM-LIVNA-GPG-KEY

APT

To start using the rpm.livna.org repository in apt add the following to your /etc/apt/sources.list

rpm http://rpm.livna.org/ fedora/4/i386 lvn
rpm-src http://rpm.livna.org/ fedora/4/i386 lvn

To install the nvidia-drivers simply type a command like the following as root:

yum install kernel-module-nvidia-$(uname -r)

where do I type all those things. theres no were to type stuff in. except at the begining or the install and those commands don't work there. I think i need to reinstall it with the Nividia drivers but i have no clue how to install them before I install. because afterwords itr goes right to the GUI. and i wont install FC4 without gnome or kde. How do I use this as i can't get to the command line to use this because i cant finnish the install without the GUI it seems?

Does any one know how to make Nvidia work on FC 4 at the install stage as that would really help?
