Smile Fedora Core 5 - Cant start X Server

Hi,

I have just upgraded from RH9 to FC5. I used the "Upgrade" option on the install to do this.

When I reboot the system now, I get an error message when trying to start X, complaining that my pointer device is not set up correctly. The mouse is the same one I was using with RH9 and is set up as a generic PS/2 wheel mouse (which is what it is).

It doesnt seem to make any difference what I set it to it doesnt work! Any ideas what may be cause of this?

The log file seems to point towards a line in /etc/X11/xorg.conf file which specifies the device as being /dev/psaux but apparently this file does not exist.. Does this sound like something I can download somewhere or is it more complicated than that?

Cheers
Arzer.

No worries, I solved it thanks.

It appeared that for some reason the upgrade left refrences to a device used in RH9. I solved this by loggin in as root, and changing the device to /dev/input/mice (which looked to be about right!). Not sure if this is the correct solution but would appreciate someone telling me if I have done anything dangerous!

X Server does now start now, and the mouse seems to be working too.

Wahay! I solved a Linux problem!

NB: So are the "files" listed in the /dev folder aliases for the physical components that they are supposed to represent? Or are they like device driver files?
