Ok, so I gave up on Mandirva. I didn't like it because of it's uber-simplicity and it was just not my thing. So what did I do? I installed a new distro.
I went ahead and installed Fedora Core 4, what gave me the imp[ulse to so I won't be able to tell you, it was just the first thing that came to mind.
Ok, so I am having the same problem I had with Mandriva, sound card issues. My Creative SoundBlaster X-Fi Xtreme Music isn't being detected, and I am attempting the alsaconf command at the moment, all help will be appreciated.
Also, it is updating, but it keeps popping up the question of if I wan't to accept it because it isn't signed with a GPG signature. How can I just let it automatically accpet these?
I really liked fedora core personally and am now using FC5test2. what you are gonna want to do is do a 'yum install' of all of the alsa related stuff. and for the updating, you obiously don't have the right gpg signatures so you might want to look around for those. and in the preferences you might tell it not to check for gpg update. and if you are usingup2date to update i would suggest using yum instead. you can do a "yum install yumex" to get a graphical interphace
