fedora core 3 can't dial (error 2)

I recently installed fedora core 3 on different syste. I tried to make a connection using dial up modem, and the connection was made successfully. By the way, the modem , a dlink modem, was detected by fedora as generic, and I used it anyway.

The problem is when I tried to connect, the modem doesn't seem to function or dial. There was an error message and it was "error 2" ... does this mean I need to get a driver for my modem? or some configuration settings only ? how do I fix this ?

try this

open up kppp dialer (its there with FC3)
choose ur modem device
then go to query modem and see if u get any results there
if u get blank box in reslut then ur modem is not fine

this way u can check whether ur modem device is fine
