Fedora Core 1 Clock shows the wrong time.
I have been looking through the other posts about time problems but none of them that I read seem to be quite like mine.
In short the wrong time is displayed in the bottom right panel in Fedora. What is weird is that when I go into the options to adjust it, the correct time is shown there. Furthermore, if I set it to get its time from clock.redhat.com it again will show the correct time in the settings but not in the panel. I tried hwclock from a command line and it returned the correct time as well. What could the problem be? The correct time is also shown in the BIOS of the machine. Why is it that the settings show the correct time but after pressing ok and leaving the settings GUI the clock is still showing the wrong time? Thanks in advance, Martin |
Have you checked that your time-zone is correct?

Two ways to do it, GUI or command line
Gnome.. Go to Menu > System settings > Date & Time Set the Time Zone to the correct one. Be sure the UTC option is off. In the terminal the date command should return the right Time Zone. [david@zeus david]$ date Thu Mar 18 22:55:59 CST 2004 If the terminal does not show CST copy or link /usr/share/zoneinfo/US/Central to /etc/localtime |
I'm having the exact same problem, but on a Red Hat Enterprise WS ver. 3 machine. I've checked under Menu > System Settings > Date & Time, and just like the first poster the correct time shows up. Also if I type `date` into the terminal I get the correct time. The only place I get the incorrect time is on the clock on my menu panel at the bottom of my screen. Any ideas where this applet is reading it's data from and why it's got the wrong time? One other note, I don't set my time of any network, I set it manually. Thanks so much.

So I'd already tried logging out and and back in a couple of times, but I did a complete shut down, waited a few seconds and then rebooted and now the time in the menubar is correct. Hope this helps someone out.
