no ICQ here, but ill give it a shot, the best advice i can give is to RTFM .. (read the <deleted explative> manual) .. its a course piece of advice but that acronym is older than i am
that, for me, is the joy of linux, the learning experience. reading TFM is an endless task, and just about anywhere is a good place to start, being an open source project, linux is a cluster <deleted explative> so dont expect to find a beginners end, just start reading something that pertains to what your doing and if you dont undertstand something about what you read, look it up somewhere
fishing lesson aside-
"cd /(dir w/ blackbox-0.65.0.tar.gz)" this is probably /home/user or maybe /root depending on whether or not you use root access when you d/l files, i suggest not doing that
"gzip -d blackbox-0.65.0.tar.gz" there are two programs compressing this file, gzip -d drops the .gz extension
"tar -xf blackbox-0.65.0.tar" the -xf opens directorys within the archive and creates them in your hd, after you do this, 9 times out of 10 there will be a directory .. probably "blackbox-0.65.0" in this case
"cd blackbox-0.65.0"
"ls" look for scripts like "configure" or "install" .. see if there is a Makefile .. there will be a README .. and you should read it too, im thinking you have source code but i cant be 100% sure, its possible that this is it will either tell you how to compile blackbox or it will show you what to read so that you can learn how to install your blackbox
i know my advice is not very well organized, im hung over ..
as a linux newbie, README is your best friend,
although ill help if i notice that someones asking a question that i can answer
