Well, first of all, FC5 is too old and may not support all the new hardware. You should try to use newer distribution so that you face least problems with your hardware support.
As with your question, you have not provided much of the information for you to get real help. You need to give information about your internet connection, how do you connect to it? dsl, dial up, broadband? Do you need username password to be supplied. Also tell if you use modem to connect or use a connect through network card?
