I've been trying to run Fedora 9 off a flash drive. It went well all day yesterday til the night when I had a host of updates that needed done. 52 or so. I think they're just all the ones that will hit you the first time you use fedora 9. Anyways...during the update of "selinux" (targeted) my screen would always freeze...no mouse use....no key response...nothing..then upon trying to reboot I get an error and it drops me into the shell with a "Good Luck!"
Over and over again I kept writing onto the usb trying to update and again and again it fails. Eventually...I tried updating via yum...which gave me a much better idea of what is going on (even though I'm new to linux and DON'T know what's going on)
Right after the update of the selinux limited package there is an error that goes something like
Quote:
|
libsemanage.write_file:error while writing to /etc/selinux...
|
I don't exactly remember the rest of the error..I'm hoping somebody can figure it out from that..I'm going to try to reproduce the error with a wider terminal so I can get all of it and update this post with more
At this point...any and all help will be VERY much appreciated.
I have an AMD 64-bit so I use the 64-bit version of fedora 9 with a Lexar Jumpdrive Firefly - 2GB...I use a persistent overlay of half a gig because I'm unsure of how big an overlay should typically be (Again...very new to linux)
Thanks in advance for everything! I'm really looking forward to learning the ins and outs of this OS.
