Fedora 8, Wireless can scan network, asks for password, fails to connect.

Hi all,

I am having major issues with my wireless.
I have a bcm4318 router, ndiswrapper installed, bcm43xx and ssd blacklisted.
My kernel: 2.6.23.15-137.fc8
I have tried to activate wlan0 with the GUI "Network Configuration" but I get this response:
"Error for wireless request "Set Mode" (8B06):
Set failed on device wlan0; Invalid arguement.

Error for wireless request "Set Encode" (8B2A):
Set failed on device wlan0; Invalid arguement.

When I use the GUI to try to connect it can locate my connection, asks for my password, tries to connect then asks again.

Please help I am, really stumped and do not know what to do next!

is it the essid?

I have looked around and see that my ESSID is set to off/any and I can't seem to change it.
When I run
iwconfig wlan0 essid on
I get:
Error for wireless rquest "Set ESSID" (8B1A):
Set failed on device wlan0 ; Invalid arguement
I do not know how to interpret this?

I am hoping a real Linux guru is out there!

Is the 'SSID Broadcast' option on your router/access point turned on? If your SSID is hidden, I have noticed some problems like this. Try turning the SSID Broadcast option on if it's currently off. Also, don't mess with the command line options, the GUI will take control of your wifi and do whatever it needs to in order for it to connect. If you have any questions, feel free to message me.

Cheers!
