It appeared report Fedora 8 not support for CPU i686 ? I dont know why. My laptop have CPU Duo Core 1.83, Ram 2G, VGA onboard... I installed Ubuntu 7.10 is OK.

I hope anyone can help me, explain this wrong and how to install Fedora 8 on my laptop. Thanks all for your helping and sorry for my English skill.

Did it get far enough for you to make a choice to run a test on the media? My first guess is that your media (or your DVD drive) is not good. Fedora 8 supports i686 and newer architectures, including Intel Core 2 Duo.

PS: If you don't want to pick up a lot of spam emails, I recommend removing your email address from your post.

As I understand it, the user email addresses in vBulletin (such as the one you enter when you register) are not readable by a spambot, but email addresses posted in a thread (like the one above) are.

They are different DVDs.

The 64-bit version is for computers with the following processors: Core 2 Duo, Core Solo, Opteron, Athlon 64, Turion 64, Sempron, and whatever CPU they use on an Intel Mac.

The 32-bit version will work on all of the above, although it will not be as optimized. The 32-bit version is recommended for Athlon, Pentium, Celeron, and Core Duo (which is different from the Core 2 Duo) processors.
