Sounds like good news if you run Fedora.

pixellany 10-23-2007 07:56 AM

I have a pretty good view of the mountains.
Glad to hear it's being released--how long had it been in prison?
I don't know what "u r" means

brianL 10-23-2007 10:26 AM

Well, dude, might be OK for Fedora users, but me? Just ain't bovverred.

Just curious to see whether it will be worthwhile upgrading. It used to be fun upgrading every time some new version of this or that distro came out but nowadays I frequently get the feeling that I made a lot of effort for little gain, especially with the ones that have relatively short release cycles.

I have a 256kbps broadband connection.. so it takes a long time for me to download the dvd version of fedora... each time when a new version of fedora is released i start downloading it.. but i have to wait a long time for the download to get completed..once its downloaded immediately i wud try it out by installing it.. so again i have to download FC8 :-(... hehe... it wud b very nice if fedora wud send free dvd to our physical address jus like ubuntu cd's being sent to our physical location :-D.... hehe.. jus kidding..

fedora 8? I haven't even tried fedora 7 yet, though I was going to give it a try because of its support of making fedora version LiveCDs. These life cycles are too short, and I think I might wait until they stop supporting fedora 6.

I am still on FC6 on some machines, 7 was good because I could finally use yum in a timely fashion, but I feel like the other who mentioned too much effort for little gain.

When Fedora 8 comes out, I'm not sure if I am going to upgrade right away. I have been using Fedora 7 on my new computer for a few months, and really like it, but it took a while to get everything set up to my liking (especially my Linksys wireless card). For me it depends on what changes from Fedora 7 to Fedora 8.

u r is short form of your .... cool

brianL 10-24-2007 07:27 AM

It's "you are" or "you're".

I see nothing exciting with this release, but knowing myself, I'll install it anyway. If they says that F8 will have improved support for laptops, that's good enough reason for me. I still have lots of fun going through all this install and configuration stuff anyway... Probably a sad result for having a boring life :(.

AceofSpades19 10-24-2007 06:58 PM

I don't really see any improvments over Fedora 7, except the web desktop thing they were talking about

oskar 10-28-2007 06:25 AM

It's going to be named "Werewolf"... If that isn't an improvement to "Moonshine", I don't know.

Well they announced that Code-buddy - some kind of multimedia codecs installer helper will be included... That seems to be a big deal for new users, and I kind of understand it.
