I have been attempting to install Febora 24 i686 on older Dell Inspiron Mini 10v 1018 with 2 GB ram and intel N455 single core CPU.
After install to hard drive and power off, system will not load again.
I get a "9.355822 failed to find cpu0 device node" during boot from USB and after reset after the install to hard drive.
I haven't figured out way to interpret boot process nor info about message.
I am new to Linux and any suggestions will be appreciated. This is for Linux class. I do have Fedora 24 running on my PC, but will not take that to class..

How far does it get - do you get a boot menu, or does it skip straight past (no boot menu) but sound like it's doing something ?. Hit <Esc> and you should see a boatload of messages - if it stops, take a photo and post that.
That message is supposed to be harmless - if you saw it on the liveUSB but still installed to disk ok, I guess it was harmless - at least on that occasion.
imho, it doesn't make sense to use a "bleeding-edge" distro on a matured piece of hardware.
i think you'd be better off using something e.g. debian stable based.
I know using older tech is a royal pain and most likely not doable. I have always had issue with netbook being slow, etc, especially with Windows and was hoping it would do better with Linux. We use Fedora in class, so old netbook is being donated or trashed and using new laptop. I have spent too much time attempting to make it work. learned a few things, so that is good.

erm.
i never said that, on the contrary.
i think i'd like your old netbook, mine is even older. but, fwiw, i'm running archlinux on it, but it took some setting up...
anyhow, it's more a question of finding the right distro (or setting everything up by hand).
that's all i'm saying.
but with 2GB of RAM you still have plenty of choice.
