Fedora 20 gets stuck in boot after upgrading the kernel

I had installed Fedora 20 running on a 3.14 something , it had another kernel 3.11 something. I allowed some updates to happen and the next time I booted it got stuck and showed another rescue version on Grub. Now I am only able to run on 3.11 or the rescue version.

I tried to remove the newer kernel completely and reinstall it again , but it still does not work. If i restart the machine through rescue OS i get the error ''DRACUT" something.

How to I upgrade the kernel to a new stable version??

How did you attempt to remove the new kernel?

I just rebooted this F20 after a yum update - the kernel is 3.13.4-200.
I keep 4 rather than the default 3, and the oldest is 3.12.8-300, so where did you get your kernels from ?.

Try a yum update (as root) from a terminal, packagekit has had some major issues.

I just had this Fedora version from a friend in a CD, so i installed it. I am not sure how it happened but when I realised there is a problem I saw that I had 2 kernels one was a 3.11 and the other was 3.12 something (i dont remember now). Now I think i have deleted the version which I had so far been using and running Fedora on 3.11.
However I still get a rescue version on GRUB, and when I enter that and restart my system it says a DRACUT Warning and mentions a file which i should send along with the bug report. Now I have completely no idea what is happening. Is this something serious ,I really have lots of things inside. Could you guide me through certain steps I should take to upgrade the kernel.

It's possible dracut is messing up and you need to rebuild the initramfs after installing the new 3.13 kernel. From man dracut (modified to use the latest F20 kernel):

Quote:
A shortcut to generate the image at the default location for a specific kernel version is:
# dracut --kver kernel-3.13.5-200.fc20
