Fedora 14 usb printer not found
 

Clean installation of Fedora 14.
usb connected Epson RX620.
printer's SD card is mounted OK
/etc/cups/ppd is empty
installed software:
cups.x86_64
cups-libs.x86_64
foomatic.x86_64
foomatic-db.noarch
foomatic-db-filesystem.noarch
foomatic-db-ppds.noarch
foomatic-filters.x86_64
gutenprint.x86_64

How is a missing print driver indicated?
Where are printer drivers found in file system?
What should be done to get printer working?

can't find any driver cups either go closed source maybe?

fedora 14 hits it's End of life on Dec 8 ( 7 days)
at that time there will never be any more support
No updates
No security fixes
No nothing

please install fedora 16

as to setting up a printer
did you set it up on the cups web interface ?

and look for your printer in the list when you " add new printer"

Thanks for the reply. I've tried the cups web interface. The add printer item returns "forbidden"

a pop up window asking for the root name and the root password should have popped up

PS. if you used the pam hack to login as root
that pop up will not work and you will be unable to configure it .

No authorization popup. I've not made any changes to pam.

When attaching the printer the SD card in it mounts. There is no
request to install made.
