Fedora 12 - install or upgrade and what about data
Is it safe to upgrade from Fedora 11 to 12 or is it best to do a clean install.
If I do a clean install what should I back up to restablish my environment on 12 without having to reconfigure everything again? If I backup my home user directory is it simply a case of overwriting the new home user directory in the new install? what if some of the configurations in all those hidden .<directory> (read as dot followed by name) subtley changed. Thanks for any advice |
It's best to install.
Back up the data. You'll have to reconfigure regardless, so save whatever scripts you think will hwlp and port them over. |
Upgrading Fedora 11
I ended up upgrading using the pre-upgrade package provided by Fedora.
So far everything seems to be running smoothly fingers crossed! |
