To punboy.
According to your words, Gnome look like garbage compare to KDE..
How long have you been using Gnome?
If you don't know much about it, don't talk about it like a garbage.
I agree that KDE look better than Gnome.
But Gnome does have it own superior aspect.
Konqueror may be better than nautilus
but gnome-search-tool is better than kfind,
evolution is better than Kmail,
and what image processing software in linux can be better than the gimp,

Be carefull when you want to list the bad aspect of some product.
Think about it advangtage before you speak.

it really really really does not matter which one you use, like, prefer or like to watch at 24/7. you can use both kde and gnome apps in both of the things, and both of them provide the basic operations like a text-editor, a calculator, wallpaper, panel etc. etc...all the eye-candy and helper apps can be used no matter which one you use.

I myself prefer Gnome for it's beautiful and easy to use, not made too complicated for daily use (console is for those freaks like my dark side who like complicated things), yet giving me every basic tool I need..but still, I prefer k3b as my cd/dvd-writing-app, and I don't care a damn if it's a KDE app. It works, it's good, that's it - and it works under Gnome peacefully.

So when selecting between KDE or Gnome, bear in mind that all the apps out there will work (ok, probably: there's always an exception :) I know there is or will be at least) in both of them, and they both work with the Linux you have..so I guess the reason(s) why you select either of them, are

1) which outlook you prefer - both look good, but which look do you like to look at?
2) do you have a fixation on Qt or GTK.. ;)
3) simply, do you WANT to see the FOOT or the K?

also remember XFCE...looking Gnome, having less weight ;)

I use both on a regular basis (KDE more than GNOME). From my personal experience, I think KDE has more features, better integration of apps and is easier to configure than GNOME. GNOME is not as cluttered as KDE and does not ship with as many apps. This can be an advantage or disadvantage depending on each individuals preference.
