FC6 unable to acess shared files

Hi

I'm not an experienced Linux user, but have used FC4 for around 1 year mainly for office type stuff. Using FC4 (on the same machine, home LAN, etc) I was able to share files easily between all machines but then installed FC6 on the LAN:

slackbox - (slackware 11 recently installed)
bluebox - (win2k)
dualboot - (ex FC4 now FC6)

Samba and SELinux/Firewalls seem to be set up OK, and I've tried one or two different configs, even switched off the firewalls, etc, but although bluebox can access the dualboot and slackbox shares, and slackbox can see bluebox, FC6 can't access any of them, even its own...it can see them, and I can navigate folders but can't open files. The error message is always "The folder contents could not be displayed. Sorry, couldn't display all the contents of (shared)".

This is driving me mad - I've tried everything I can think of and can't find any solutions on-line. I always got there in the end with FC4 problems, but I've been on this a week and I'm no closer >8(

Any help would be most appreciated!
Thanks

Usually to display the contents of a folder the "x" bit must be set on that folder for others.

Thanks for your reply - but the folder settings seem to be correct, as the other 2 PCs can access no problem. In a nutshell, all the 3 PCs seem to be able to access each others' shares apart from the FC6 one, which can't access any, even its own...
