Question FC4 grub doesn't exist?

I have searched a lot over rthe last couple of days to no avail. If this has laready been posted, sorry, I couldnt find it. I install FC4 on the end of my second hdd. hda - all windows. hdb1 - windows zips/some crap, hdb2 - fc4. All goes well through the install, reboot and windows starts, nothing even mentioned about grub.it is installed on the MBR. I even tried putting it on the beginning of hdb and switching the hdd boot order - nope, blank screen. all i have found in response to this was "edit grub file," but i dont know how, plus i can't imagine thats the issue. the only post on LQ is http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...ub+doesnt+load
but noone responded except to the huge signature of the poster. errrr. it seems like many people have had this issue but im not seeing any remedies. thanks in advance.

Unhappy

nothing, i get jack. with grub (supposedly) installed to the MBR (preferred method), it goes straight to XP without skippin a beat. With it on the begining of the second drive, switching the drive order, I get a black screen with a blinking underscore(_), and nothing else. I have installed Core 4 probably 3-4 times in this last week, nothing seems to matter.
I want fedora since a lot of RPMs are made for it, specifically some financial software I really want for a business I may go into. I need an easy distro that wont require a lot of headache. Ive tried installing dozens of source packages and always run into problems. Each issue takes days to solve and is always followed by another problem. I don't want to run windows in this business because its too expensive between the OS and required software.
Again, thanks for any and all help

I solved the issue, and write this post from fedora core 4. I set GRUB up by hand, even though I stubbornly doubted it working. as i stated above, my linux was on hdb2, 2nd hdd, 2nd partition. so I:
booted up disc 1 of FC4, issued 'linux rescue'
'grub'
grub> root (hd1,1)
(output)
grub> setup (hd0) //where to put bootloader
(output)
grub> quit

reboot
bootloader menu, voila.
good luck, i hope this helps anyone with similar issues.
