FC4 Burn Problem

Since I'm tired of wasting discs I decided to ask a question here.

I have downloaded Fedora Core 4 three times. First I tried the DVD, this wouldn't install right and told me that the install would take a week. Second I tried the four CDs. Every burn I do fails the media check that runs before the install.

I used Nero to try and burn it finalized and unfinalized, and I even tried slowing down the burn speed to 16x (I have a DVD burner that supports 48x)

I am stumped and running out of CD-Rs

The media checker on FC3 and FC4 is buggy and will fail any CD on some systems. This happened to me. I used Nero to burn the images also, finalized. I got FC4 to install graphically after I skipped the media test. I got a data error on the fourth CD of the install, but I retried the operation and the rest of the installation went smoothly.

If the above post doesn't help:

Did you run md5sum on the isos after you downloaded them? Also, why not just burn the iso directly from the command line? I can imagine while burning multiple files that you'd want to use a burner with a GUI, but it's just one image file.

I'm actually using Windows XP to burn them, to my knowledge there is no comand-line burner.

I will use this post to ask another question that escapes my memory.

Do you want to leave the cds finished or unfinished?
