FC 5 see 2 HDD even I created RAID1
I got this old Server with Adaptec AIC-7902W chipset embedded onboard the motherboard. Using the Adaptec program (Control+A), I had built 2 HDD with Mirrored (RAID-1). (I want to create RAID-1)
But during Installation of Fedora Core 5, I am still seeing 2 individual HDDs. Please advice me why the FC5 is still seeing 2 HDDs. Do I need to install driver in-order for FC5 to see the "Mirror" HDD as a Single unit? I google abit still can't find the answer. ******************************************************************************************** I think I found the answer in here: http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...straid-547867/ ******************************************************************************************** Another problem appear, if I use Software Raid in FC-5, I got to do some more works, that I had not try before. http://www.ping.co.il/node/1 |
If your device needs drivers, its not hardware raid and the OS will be able to see the device. There may be, but I am unsure of any advantages (other than headaches) of a vendors software raid and linux's native software raid.
