Question fatal IO error 104 on X server "0.0" after 0 requests with 0 events remaining

i am using suse 10.0.
i have set runlevel 5 for still gui is not working,on startx ,i am getting error as "fatal IO error 104 (COnnection reset by peer) on xserver ":0.0" after 0 requests (0 known processed) with 0 events remaining".

Have you recently recompiled the kernel? X requires UNIX socket support as well as, I believe, System V IPC (message passing).

i am new to linux.so plz help me.i was getting error kernel.h not found.so i downloaded kernel source code 2.6.26.and compiled it according to instructions which i found on net.linux got crashed due to compiling kernel.
there was error on shell "install libgcc to run p_thread".
so i reinstalled suse 10.0.
actually i want to load gcc package through yast .
how to do that.wt should i do remove error kernel.h not found??????
plz help........

I missed it before, but what I suggest is you download or buy a newer version of Suse (if that's what you want). The latest version is 11.0 or 11.1, I believe, and it may solve those problems as it may be due to old versions of compiler and other utilities.
