Fatal IO error 104 during Fedora Core 1 Installation
To anyone,
I would appreciate any help in solving my installation woes.
Pertinent details (at least to me) about my system:
Celeron 500
Riva TNT2
Monitor: TVM AS5S
40 GB Western Digital HD
256 MB RAM
I have attemped to install Fedora Core 1 onto a 10 GB free space on my Harddisk. Each time I attempt to install using the graphics mode, I receive the following:
Fatal IO error 104 (connection rest by peer) on X server
":1.0" after 0 requests (0 known processed) with 0 events remaining.
Whereupon installation is terminated and I am told that it is safe to reboot.
Prior to the message, the installation process seems to detect my graphics card, monitor, harddisk, CDrom and mouse appropriately. The instllation terminates within seconds of the mouse prompt (the typical Linux X shaped mouse prompt) appearing.
Text mode installation proved unsuccessful.
I realise that perhaps the CPU is underpowered for Fedora but I have been told that Fedora should work, albeit slowly.
Can anyone provide any insight on how I may go about this problem?
Regards,
Aman
