fan in my laptop

The fan in my laptop doesn't seem to work. It doesn't turn on and my laptop just gets hotter.

Is there anyway to turn on the fan?

I have a Dell laptop running kubuntu

Under the case it say's latitud c510/c610

How may I turn on the fan?

Thank you!

I'm pretty sure that your fan is controlled by a thermostat, not software. Check with Dell. Your fan thermostat could be shot.
