Unhappy failed to restore FC5

hi fellows, i had Windows XP and FC5 installed on my system. then i formated the C: (hda1) drive containing XP and along with it went the MBR. Then i again installed XP on the same partition. Later i tried to restore FC5 with is there. So i ran the installation/upgradation setup and reinstalled GRUB but when i was about to finish the installation a message appeared that i dont have kernel modules installed so i cannot update my boot loader. Now i am using XP but not FC5 . It is still there. i didnt delete or uninstalled any of its components.
kindly help me out on this
