facing problem on FC5

Hello guys, i'm new on linux. and try to understand that operating system but i've facing some problem.
#1: when i try to access "Add/Remove Software" then it isn't work, following message has shown: "Unable to retrieve software information". I already did format again setup fc5 but i have the same problem.

#2: when i try to install <>.src.rpm with double click then it says; "Cannot install source packages, No packages were given for installation."

#3: when i try to install <>.i386.rpm with double click then it show, Installing packages ......... The following packages will be installed. but when i click apply then it shows "Error: Unable to retrieve software information."

#4: when i try to install a software with a terminal then it shows: cannot execute binary file. the command was (./xmms.......)

#5: In terminal when i give (yum install xmms-mp3......) then it shows:
[ Loading "installonlyn" plugin
Setting up Install process
Setting up repositories
Core [1/3]
Cannot find a valid base url for repo: core
Error: Cannot find a valid base url for repo: core]

plzzzzzzzzzz some body helpppppppppp.

and i have some question;
# I have seen that yum is already included with fc5, so do i have to install it again?
# how to install <>.src.rpm file?
# Which file format is standart installer?

I'm waiting for your help guys. seeya

Do you have working internet connection?
Or maybe you are behind proxy/firewall ?

Pirut (Add/Remove software), yumex, kyum, etc - are working online, from your error is seen that yum can not resolve repos.

1) You do not need install yum, cause this already installed with fedora 5.
2) You don't actually need to install source packages (.src.rpm), only if u really need the sources of software.
3) yum uses .rpm files, but not src.rpm.

I think I replied to many of your questions in your earlier thread. I suggested you get your internet connection up and running in Linux.

Refer to this thread. Please read that thread carefully. Specifically the suggestion that you should get a internal pci or external modem. Once internet is up, software installation is trivial. Use the stanton-finley link that I gave.
