Facebook has locked me out because of malware

I'm on Linux so can't do what Facebook insists I do before it will let me back in - it says this:
Run Anti-Virus Software
Your computer has been infected with a virus or with malware. You should run anti-virus software to remove these harmful programs and keep your information secure.
For Microsoft: click here
For Apple: click here
and wants me to click this:
I certify that I have run the Anti-Virus software and that my computer no longer has any malware.

I'd be grateful for any ideas, please.

Why not run Linux AV software? Yes, I know it is unlikely to do any good, but you'd have complied with the requirement. You'd probably get a better bang:buck ratio by running something like rkhunter, but the optimal time to do that would have been before there was any chance of infection...but, you didn't do it then (but still worth doing).

I think the problems ARE those "Click Here" directives.

THOSE are the malware, spam, viruses, whatever.

Close those windows. What browser are you using? Install add-ons to help you block scripts and ads.

For Firefox I use NoScript and AdBlock Plus.

Additional joking statement that works for me:
"Oh ... you're locked out of your facebook account? I think you're fine now!"

Solved

Thanks! It appears that the directives WERE the malware, as suggested, and not from Facebook at all - I ignored them and accessed Fbk from another laptop and got on straight away.

Most of the time it is bogus adware/malware. They use fear and uncertainty to get you to click on those links. Once you're there at their website, you agree to do a free virus scan. They feed you bogus warnings and they bait you with credit card in hand and hope you buy their product to remove whatever it found in the free scanning process.

I get the same thing from my android phone usually the free apps. A banner saying INFECTED??? Clean your phone now!

I just ignore it.

you should all get proper adblocking, or, preferably, hostsblocking(*).

(*) similar package available for android on f-droid: AdAway

i have done the same .. opened fbk acct on other device but that does not solve problem with original device being questioned
