Extreme Knoppix Problems
 

Hi,
I just found out how to install knopix, I installed it along w/a winxp operating system. I didn't want to repartition my Winxp, so I added another hd. I installed Knoppix, and now whenever I try to boot knoppix,it says that my hd has not been checked in 4987548 days and then it starts to scan. I fixes about 12 errors, and then I just see a gray screen. My winxp is working fine (how would I be posting here?).

Can anyone help/???

Kurt, I use knoppix and kanotix but just a few months experience and too noob to help. But I don't think any of the folks around here would mind if I give you the link to the knoppix forum where someone is sure to be able to help:

Maybe you must run some sort of a HDD diagnose program before installing KNOPPIX. For me it worked fine, but... if I remember correctly there's a utility called tune2fs or something similar, right?

Have you tried it?

Boot your Knoppix cd and as root (do su) do e2fsck /dev/hdxy where xy is the drive and partition that knoppix-hd is.
