Extreme difficulty with Sendmail; however, no destruction of config files yet
Hello, My Linux box has been running serving up my domain since December '08, and I did it myself. I used a Windows Sambar server for my mail server for around a year and a half, then changed my MX record to my ISP's mail server. After 11 years I have changed ISPs and have decided to run my own mail server once more. I am tinkering carefully with Sendmail, but it is not working yet. I finally figured out to put my users in the virtuser address mapping tables. My MX record has been set to mail.mydomain.com, and I am testing just one at first using Evolution on the Linux machine to start.
My error message is apparently somewhat standard for those who do not know what they are doing:"host lookup failed temporary failure in name resolution".
Evolution's send/receive dialog box shows "waiting" (which ends in failure), and "sending" The website works fine, so what I'm hoping for is the simplest possible advice to get it working.
Sendmail ver. 8.14.2 V10,I have Dovecot running for the client?
Anyway, I have not found how to get it working yet, but I must be close.
BTW, I use Webmin to administer the box, but along with my "cheatsheets", I'm not afraid of using the Terminal.
Regards, tarzy
