External HDD

While I have successfully installed Ubuntu 6.10 on my laptop, I have a question...

My Windows/Ubuntu partitions are 30GB/30GB but is it worth using an external HDD for data storage for BOTH operating systems? Would this make my data more accessible in both OS's whilst keeping both partitions for program installations and upgrades?

If your windows partition is NTFS then it would make sense to use either another partition or harddrive.
This should use FAT file system as it is the easiest and currently the most stable file system that is compatible with windows and linux.

It can be attached any how you like. So long as each operating system knows how to see it. Some common methods that both linux and windows can use is IDE, SCSI, USB and Firewire.
