what filesystem is the external drive formatted? if it is NTFS, FC2 did not, if i recall correctly, have even read support for NTFS natively
. If it is a filesystem that FC2 can read natively, such as FAT32/vfat then we can start by looking at the end of dmesg
shortly after you connect the drive and give it a bit of time to spin-up and settle
. As well, checking the output of mount
from a shell or terminal to see if it did indeed mount it automatically. Also, review the output of fdisk -l
to see if the drive is at least detected at a block-device level.
