I added the last two lines in /etc/dbus-1/system.d/hal.conf and made sure my user was a part of the plugdev group. That fixed it.
Code:
 <!-- Allow members of 'plugdev' group to mount/unmount volumes -->
  <policy group="plugdev">
    <allow send_destination="org.freedesktop.Hal"
    	   send_interface="org.freedesktop.Hal.Device.Storage"/>
    <allow send_destination="org.freedesktop.Hal"
    	   send_interface="org.freedesktop.Hal.Device.Storage.Removable"/>
    <allow send_destination="org.freedesktop.Hal"
    	   send_interface="org.freedesktop.Hal.Device.Volume"/>
    <allow send_destination="org.freedesktop.Hal"
    	   send_interface="org.freedesktop.Hal.Device.Volume.Crypto"/>
    <allow send_interface="org.freedesktop.Hal.Device.Volume"/>
    <allow send_interface="org.freedesktop.Hal.Device.Volume.Crypto"/>
  </policy>
