extending a redhat 5 /var mount

hello,

I have extended the Logical Volume and when I do an lvmdiskscan it shows the new extened value but when I do a df -h the mount (/var) still shows the old value?

What should my next step be.

TIA,

Angelo

you have to resize the filesystem using
Code:
resize2fs
or
Code:
fsadm
.
