Question Export Users & Groups

I have 2 Redhat 9 linux boxes.

One which is in desperate need of a format/reinstall. The one in desperate need of attention is a 7.3 Redhat upgraded to 9.0.

I have built a new seperate linux box using redhat 9. Which is ready for deployment. Except for the users and groups.

I use webmin on each box. In the users and groups menu on webmin on the new linux box I can use the export function. Though on the old box even though it's same version of redhat the option isn't there to export. Which is just typical Considering I need it to be the other way around.

What i'm looking for is an easy way to export the users and groups from my old linux box to my new box. I work at a school so there's about 2500 users to export.

Any ideas??

Thanks Guys.

That's what I'd like to know, I'm pretty sure it is, can anyone confirm?

the question comes in system users, your best bet is to take just the users with user ids of 500 and over, the same with the groups

also copy the /etc/shadow for users you know, you might be best off just appending this file to the end of the /etc/shadow on the new machine
