Exploring folders

Hi,
I have one problem while exploring linux. Each folder is opening in its own new window. How can we stop this so that we can go to each folder in the same window.
Thank you. Please reply me asap.

what program are you exploring it with? there are dozens of "explorer" clones available. which ever it is, i'd be very suprised if there was a tickbox in a preferences dialog.

Exploring linux

hi,
What I mean by exploring is "double clicking" a folder. For example let us say i want to go to a path \etc\mnt\c
I double click "file system". so that folder opens. Then if I click "etc" folder then it open in a new window. again "mnt" folder opens in a new window.
What I want is all the folders should open in same window.
I think I made myself clear. Now let me know about this.
Thank you.

what? i know exactly what you mean... you still didn't tell me what program you're trying to do it with...

makuyl 01-27-2005 03:50 PM

Let's start guessing then.... Konqueror?
Settings -> Configure Konqueror -> Behaviour -> Uncheck "Open folders in separate windows"

I dont understand.

Hi chris,
I dont understand!! what do you mean by program. I am using Fedora Core 3 linux version on my laptop(dell-inspiron 8600). Could you clarify me about the word you mean by "program"

sathish.

acid_kewpie 01-27-2005 03:52 PM

you don't know what a computer program is?????

that guy's probably right, i bet you're using Konqueror... do what he said.

Running FC3, I would guess he's probably running Gnome/Nautilus....

The steps to take would be very similar, though. :)

I dont see an option like that

hey,
I dont see an option like "configure konquerer" in my settings. How do we know which program we are using.

sathish.

Similar as in "exactly the same" i'd be willing to bet. Funny how people who wouldn't think twice about poking round an app in windows, suddenly can't do it in linux, when it's exactly the same... odd.

yes i got it.

Thank you,
mine is Gnome. I configured it just now.

because like ANY file manager program you've EVER used in Windows, it will say so in the title bar...
