Expanding my experiance
 

I have the summer free and I wish to learn soemthing new. At present my machine is purly for desktop use. But I would like to start having a go at more advanced things seeing as I ahve all this wonderful OSS/FOSS power and tools at my finger tips it seems a shame not to experiment with them.

The problem is there are so many things that can be done. So what would you suggest I try? I have the following ideas:

Start playing with SSH (I have never used it yet so its seems logical to give this a try egleast)

Setup an icecast server

Samba/Print server

I would try apache first, it is the only one I know but at least it is robust.
Yes, if you do get it up and running you can see it from the internet using your ip address.
Yes, if you get a domain you will get a www.something address as well.
I use no-ip, here but it's just for fun!

samba is quick and easy to setup. doit!
