Expanding an NTFS partition

I know it's not really a Linux question, but I have no idea where to ask it and the people here are smart. :) I need a free way to expand an NTFS partition so that it includes the free, unpartitioned space immediately after it. I tried a bunch of free trial tools but none of them actually did anything. If it was somewhat reliable that would be preferable, as I won't have to dig up all my backup discs and load it all back on. Thanks very much in advance!

I have used Partition Magic 8 to resize partitions and it works like a champ.

Try it out!

Partition Magic is the standard answer for altering NTFS partitions, but it doesn't meet one of your requirements, because it is NOT free. It does work, but anytime you play with partitions, you should back things up. An error while altering partitions can cause you to lose all of the data, so I wouldn't do anything without a good set of backups.

If you must use free software to do the job, search google. and sourceforge, I'm sure something exists.

Peace,
JimBass

Tried the trial of Partition Magic, but all it does is show you wizards and such that don't actually function. Most of my stuff's already backed up, it's just that I'd prefer a reliable enlargement if possible so I don't have to copy all that stuff back to my HD. Anyway, I've done lots and lots of Googling, but it's still been a fruitless search, so any more ideas are still welcome.
