Expandind Size of Centos P

I have a pc installed with CENTOS 6.3 as a mail server. Postfix with mysql is installed but it is running out of size now. I want to add another hard disk to extend the size of /usr/bin/mysql.
Before doing it I want to backup my mysql database with dum which is not a proble. I need an assisstance on how to add another HD for i believe there are some work to be done not just to plug the HD.
Thanx

Welcome to LQ!

You could just move and mount the /usr/bin/mysql to the new drive, make a big enough partition for your needs or the entire disk, do backup the data first. You could also add another swap partition in the new disk if your system swap a lot.

After the drive is plugged and running you will have to create and format partition(s) and then determine the mount point(s).

Cheers

We need some specifics; how big is each HDD, how big is the DB, how much bigger do you anticipate it'll get (DB)?
You may have to resort to LVM http://www.linuxtopia.org/online_boo...storage_admin/

Centos defaults to setting up volume groups. In this case it is SUPER easy to add a new drive and add the space to that volume group.
