ettercap -G error

Hi,

I am on Backtrack 5 and using alfanetwork adapter (wlan1).
My problem is when i start ettercap (even from terminal)
and i click on network interface just before i choose my interface i get this error on terminal:

(<unknown>:2152): GLib-GObject-WARNING **: /build/buildd/glib2.0-2.24.1/gobject/gsignal.c:3079: signal name `depressed' is invalid for instance `0x9f469f0'

I seem to be able to use ettercap, (but have yet to retrieve useful information, but thats another issue. As i said i am learning).

P.s
I did edit etter.config.
un-remarks the redirect the ip-tables and made UID=0

Did Google but had no luck.

Ta

Are you just worried about the fact that the warning appears? I wouldn't (unless the programme doesn't work as expected and is accompanied by this warning).

If I run firefoxor or thunderbird or many other programmes from a terminal, they generate these like nobody's business (especially firefox). It's just telling the developer that something's not going quite as expected, but not badly wrong enough to cause an error (hence it's not a 'GLib-GObject-ERROR')

Hope this helps,

Thanks Snark1994,
Thought the error message might have meant for some reason or another that Ettercap-ng was not working properly, hence the reason I can not get any valuable information out of a sniff.

To learn is to make mistakes.

Absolutely - In our family, we say "(s)he who never made a mistake, never made anything" ;)

However, what you could do is start it in either text mode ('-T' switch) or ncurses mode ('-C' switch); this would mean that any error/warning messages it generates aren't to do with problems with the GTK interface :)
