Ethernet to Serial Terminal Echo
I build LED displays for RS232 VT220 terminals. They are simple devices that parse some special fields and display them on an LED board for POS application.
Now my clients have upgraded their system to linux based thin clients which accept connection via ethernet (TCP/IP?) and runs a terminal program to emulate a VT220 terminal.
My questions are :
1. Is it possible to get an echo of the terminal on a free serial (com) port ?
2. Which text terminal program supports it ?
3. If no ready solution is available is it possible to develop a text based terminal emulator that echoes the terminal commands (including special control codes) send from the server ?
I am very new to Linux and want to get the job done, no matter if my client gives me enough time or not. I take it as a new learning oppertunity.
