eth1 busy after hibernate

Hello all,

Having some trouble with a notebook running Fedora Core 6.

If the notebook goes into hibernate, the Eth1 will not work on resume, a message appears during the restart process saying "set failed on device eth1, resource busy. Some other host or resource is using it".

When booted, the web browser cannot connect.

If I open up a terminal and do:

Code:
sudo dhclient -r
sudo dhclient
then the web browser works fine.

So it seems that when resuming from a hibernate, the computer must try to run some of the init.d scripts relating to networking and when it tries to get an IPaddress, it cant because eth1 is still busy.

Could this be that eth1 is not being correctly shut down when going into hibernate, resulting in problems when resuming from hibernate?

BTW, This laptop needs to use hibernate because the owner always forgets to switch the laptop off.

I noticed this line in the messages during the 'shut down' when the computer goes to sleep:

Quote:
Mar 31 18:28:36 localhost avahi-daemon[2734]: Leaving mDNS multicast group on interface eth1.IPv4 with address 192.168.0.3.

And found this in the boot up messages:

Quote:
Apr 1 08:49:31 localhost kernel: eth1: New link status: Connected (0001)
Apr 1 08:49:31 localhost kernel: ADDRCONF(NETDEV_CHANGE): eth1: link becomes ready
