Hi,

I just installed Slackware 10.2 and have trouble connecting to the local network / the internet. A little information:

Using netconfig I configured my host as followed:

ip: 192.168.1.100
gateway: 192.168.1.1
netmask: 255.255.255.0
dns: my dns ip adres

In ifconfig I can see that eth0 is up.

I'm on an 'old' lap-top (compaq presario 1700) with a Conexant LANfinity ethernet card which is detected automatically at startup.

The problem is that I don't seem to have a connection to the router (192.168.1.1) or any external ip-adress, I can ping neither.

Does anyone have any advice?

Have u tried dhcp ?

The router is set up to use static ip adresses..
