errors installing gentoo kernel

In case anyone else has this problem (I did), here is the solution I found from another post. Mounting the proc directory solved the problem.

/bin/touch does not work
glibc-2.4 / gcc 3.4.5
It is only in a chroot if there is no /proc in chroot. Do this in chroot:
mount -t proc proc /proc
