error with installing openssl


Hi everybody I am fresh and new in using linux and I tried to install openssl and this error occured:
make[2]: *** [link_app.] Error 1
make[2]: Leaving directory `/home/mims/Downloads/openssl-1.0.0d/test'
make[1]: *** [bntest] Error 2
make[1]: Leaving directory `/home/mims/Downloads/openssl-1.0.0d/test'
make: *** [tests] Error 2

Can somebody tell me what to do. Thank you

First of all, you need to find the first error and post that. All that your output tells us is that there was an error, but not what it was.

Also, do you really need to install that particular version of OpenSSL? If not, then you should be using your distribution's package management system to install it.

Welcome to LQ.

In Ubuntu, the install of the package 'libssl-dev'
will get you the complete openssl.

( Depends on 'zlib1g-dev' : Will also be installed,
providing all 'zlib' files.)
