Unhappy Error while loading shared libraries : libstdc++-libc6.1-1.so.2 : cannot open ...

I am having problem running Kylix 2 in Mint 5 with above error.
"Error while loading shared libraries : libstdc++-libc6.1-1.so.2 : cannot open shared object file : No such file or directory"

This error is documented in Kylix' own Install file, and suggests using symbolic link to the C++ library which will be in /usr/lib, and have a name with pattern like libstdc++*.so. The nearest I found was libstdc++.so.5.0.7, but even if I log in as Root, the suggested commands :
cd /usr/lib
ln -sf libstdc++......so libstdc++-libc6.1-1.so.2

seems to make more errors. I am lost!

I think that after creating the link you have to do a ldconfig command as root:

ldconfig

ldconfig sets up the links to the shared libraries. Most distributions do a ldconfig at boot. So either do a ldconfig or reboot. Then try Kylix again. See:

man ldconfig

P.S. I just checked out the -f option in ln. I am not sure what it does but I think that you should leave it out of your ln command.
