Error while executing sudo apt-get upgrade


I executed these commands
sudo apt-get clean
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get dist -upgrade


I got Error in sudo apt-get dist-upgrade.

/var/cache/apt/archives/linux-image-3.13.0-24-generic_3.13.0-24.47~precise2_i386.deb
E: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1)

My OS is Ubantu 14.04 LTS 32 bit

That's a generic message - can you also cut and paste the error messages output just before that one?

I have to ask, is there any specific reason that you ran apt-get dist-upgrade? It can be a dangerous operation (google it for more info). Normally, to update your software, it's a simple:

Code:
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get upgrade
