Unhappy Error while booting linux( ABT GREETER APPLICATION)

When I am booting linux,fedora8, it is showing this error message......

"The greeter application appears to be crashing. Attempting to use a different one...." When i am pressing OK button it will go to shell... i can login as root and use all commands......

But how to recover from this error...???
I have allocated only 10GB for linux.... Is it a problem of memory space??
