Error playing movie in mplayer, totem
 

Hello,
Please I have problem playing ocean 11 on the mplayer and I have the following error message:

Error opening/initializing the selected video_out (-vo) device

and I don't know what to do because there is no graphics.
Also I have the totem frozen everytime that I want to play any type of movie using dvd drive.

Then how can I use the terminal to start audio or video recordings using mplayer for instance, the dvd codecs I don't know. Supposing I put in a dvd and I want to play it using mplayer and mplayer is not the default player (I have totoem as the default player) how can I reset my default player through the terminal command (please I am very new to this). And i Just recently upgrade from fedora 8 to 9 sulphur.

How did you install mplayer ? Did you take the binary codecs from "mplayerhq.hu" ?

I installed it in the harder way that I can't quite remember, how I did it. May be getting the source code and compiling before installation is the process that I used. I will check later but it does not work with dvds and the codecs are the essential codec that I downloaded from a web page. Even when I first install the mplayer the gui did not work until I install the blue skin as the default skin. It was a lot of hassles trying to install the mplayer. So what can I do.
