Error P2V migration..Kernal Panic !!!!


Hi All,

I have successfully restored a physical machine image to virtual machine.After reboots system prompts me Kernal panic...!!!

As you can see from the error message, the kernel/initrd can't find the LVM volumes and hence cannot mount root.

Assuming you migrated all partitions, the most likely reason is a missing module in the initrd. The virtual disk controller provided by the hypervisor probably needs a very different driver than the controller in the physical machine you migrated from, so a new driver/module is needed.

If you still have the physical system, you could add the required module to the initrd and redo the P2V migration. You could also boot the VM from a Live CD image of some sort and edit the initrd.
