Lightbulb Error message on desktop

Hi,

An error message has appeared on my desktop when the computer has just booted up.Only half the desktop icons appear until I refresh the desktop. The message reads "sorry, could not find mime type application/octet-stream" on the display. When I click on it another same message occurs but after clicking again on it and refreshing the desktop everything seems to be o.k.The message also occurs when opening my documents and my computer.

I use Linspire 5-0 at the moment being a newbie to Linux,so any answers would be appreciated but make them simple please.

Thanks

ray h
