Unhappy Error in squid proxy access

Hai,

I am using Squid Server from last 5years. There is a site "http://www.firstflight.net", which was accessible before few days but now I am unable to access this site.

If I use IE8 then getting below error:

"Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage"

Or using Google chrome getting error:

"This webpage is not available
The webpage at http://www.firstflight.net/ might be temporarily down or it may have moved permanently to a new web address.
Error 330 (net::ERR_CONTENT_DECODING_FAILED): Unknown error."

But other sites are working fine..

What to do? Please help about this matter...

Hi there,

First of all we have to identify if it is Google Chrome or IE issue or issue with your proxy server.

1. Did you try accessing this site without proxy using IE or Google Chrome. What was the result?

You can have a look at the following link which explains this error in Google Chrome: http://www.google.com/support/forum/...2b939f43&hl=en

If above appears to be false then you can try rebuilding squid cache using the following commands

service squid stop
squid -z
service squid start

If this also does not work then you can try clearing the squid cache using the following command:

echo "" > /var/spool/squid/swap.state

Note: Only rebuild/clear squid cache when you are sure that the issue is related to squid because squid cache helps in saving browsing time. So test it first and be sure that the issue is with squid.

Thanks for reply

Hello there,

Thank you so much for your reply.

Already tried all as you said. Main thing is when I am accessing that (http://www.firstflight.net) site without proxy from the same pc on that time it is working fine. Tried by clearing all squid cache then also facing the same problem. Except that site all other sites are working fine.

Now what I will do?

Good thing is that I am able to duplicate this issue on my RHEL 5 system. I have set up a squid proxy and I am also getting the same result what you mentioned.

I checked and found that it is working with https://www.firstflight.net/ . This seems to be normal because any proxy will allow https traffic. There is something getting blocked while accessing the site via http.

Since I am able to duplicate it working on getting this site to work with http.
